PolitiCollision - Dana Carvey Blasts ‘Scary and Dangerous’ Trend of Comics Fearing to Mock Obunga http://www.politicollision.com/story.php?title=dana-carvey-blasts-%E2%80%98scary-and-dangerous%E2%80%99-trend-of-comics-fearing-to-mock-obunga While filling in as the host of Dennis Miller's nationally syndicated radio show last week, Jon Levitz and his guest, fellow comic Dana Carvey, discussed why people get so upset at Obama jokes, noting that liberals label such material as. "hate speech" and, therefore, is unworthy of any further consideration. Carvey criticized the “sensitivity” people have when jokes are told regarding President Barack Obama and that affect freedom of speech as “scary and dangerous.” Lovitz is very interested in the topic since he's received intense heat for being one of the few comedians unafraid to criticize President Obama and his continual desire to raise taxes. The fill-in host asked Carvey what he thought about the concept that certain groups -- including GLAAD (the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) -- attack comedians who tell jokes they don't like. “Well, I think that’s scary and dangerous,” said Carvey. “I think free speech is probably the coolest thing we have in this country, and again, you can label it hate speech and dismiss it, and then you’re allowed to censor it.” Tue, 07 Aug 2012 20:36:34 EDT en
