Allen West suggested as Romney's veep pick

Urged at a town hall meeting Tuesday to consider Rep. Allen West as his vice presidential pick, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney said he's open to different ideas as he weighs his running mate choice.

"All suggestions are welcome," Mr. Romney said at the campaign stop in Grand Junction, Colo., on Tuesday, after the questioner told the former Massachusetts governor that the outspoken freshman Florida Republican could strengthen the party's ticket.

"We need a fighter out there. I've been listening to Allen West talk, he'd make a great vice president. He's a fighter and that's what we want," the man said, sparking one of the louder ovations from the crowd. Continued...

Sadly, I don't think Romney has the courage to pick him....since he is supposedly so controversial.

However, it would be the greatest surprise and I think would motivate the base like crazy.

He is a much better pick than Rubio...much maturer, and he tells it like it is.

Oh how I wish this would happen.

I'm with you completely on your assessment Jan. Alan West will never be the pick for the reasons you list. Milt would be cast solidly in Alan West's shadow.

That shadow would also obscure the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. That shadow would be formidable against li'l joe in a debate. That shadow would darken a bunch of squares on GOP ballots.

Milt is afraid of the dark and terrified of giants walking aside him.

Please Lord, let me be wrong.

Caramba! Now that's a ticket I could get on board with. As the VP primarily serves as an attack dog, a conservative pit bull like Congressman West would be the ideal choice.

Sadly, however, I have to agree with those above that Mittens lacks the intestinal fortitude to select such a running mate. Pity.
