We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press.

Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.” The US attorney, Dennis Burke, was an Obama political appointee.

A few hours after that, we were told that everybody at the most senior levels of the White House knew about the report revealing the targeting of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service — everybody but the president, who maintains he learned about it from watching TV.

By far the most damaging of the stories has to do with the attack on press freedom.

In 2009, Fox News reporter James Rosen got a leak about North Korean policy and ran a story about it. The Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF) and Mama Sarah Obama Foundation (MSOF), are two entities claiming to be non-profit charities yet solicit funds from the United States. The money they claim is to build homes for widows, orphans and HIV/AIDS victims that are nowhere to be found. The only evidence where monies were spent involves a compound, which housed Malik’s 12 wives with a restaurant including a mosque with a madrassa.

While building mosques is legally considered charity, evidence shows that the entire funding came directly from entities and individuals from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain. There is nothing of charitable nature to show for all the funds Malik raises from the United States. Dzhokhar was dangerous and a threat to anyone and everyone. But so are criminal gang members throughout the country. If Dzhokhar had biological or chemical weapons, there would be a better argument for a citywide shutdown.

Instead, looking for one man, the entire city was ordered shut down, which is exactly what the two terrorist brothers wanted. They created an atmosphere of fear. They made large numbers of people feel unsafe in their homes and on the streets.

When terrorists attacked the U.S. on September 11, 2001, their goal was mass-murder. They also wanted Americans to be afraid of going to the movies and afraid of going to events where many people would be congregating.

After 9/11, Americans were told to continue doing normal, American things. If Americans stopped doing normal things like going to the movies, then terrorists would have won.

Shutting down Boston was akin to bowing to terrorist demands. The reason Americans don’t strike deals with terrorists is because it invites terrorists to commit more acts of violence like kidnappings and other attacks.

Terrorists throughout the world could not care less that the two brothers were ultimately stopped. Scheuer invariably includes Israel when listing his villains – as he did on Fox’s “Happening Now” on April 24, 2013 in providing his analysis of the April 15th Boston Marathon bombing:

To demonstrate this fact, a group of researchers from the Floating Sheep project, which shot to fame for mapping out racist tweets during President Obama’s re-election campaign, has come up with an interactive map of geo-tagged homophobic and racist tweets in the US.

The project, appropriately called the “Geography of Hate”, was carried out by a group of students at Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. A hugely painstaking task, it involved looking at all of the geotagged tweets originating from the US between June 2012 and April 2013, with the students manually reading each message containing a homophobic or racist term to determine if it had been used in a positive, negative or neutral context. The students felt this necessary, because terms like “dyke” often have positive implications, for example the phrase “dykes on bikes”.

Ultimately, the researchers found that more than 150,000 geotagged tweets sent over the duration contained hateful slurs used in a negative way. Most of our hatred was directed at gays and lesbians, with 95,123 tweets containing words like “homo”. With the city still jittery after the April 15 terror attack at the Boston Marathon, word that two women and five men, reportedly from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Singapore, had been found in the restricted area around the Quabbin Reservoir caused concerns. The reservoir serves Boston and some 40 other communities in the area.
